FactGate saves your progress on your device. Optional usage analytics help us understand which features work, and the optional Friends feature uses a sign-in with Apple so you can learn alongside people you invite.

The short version

Optional usage analytics

Only after an adult learner opts in, FactGate sends basic usage events to Mixpanel’s EU-hosted service: onboarding steps, screens visited, paywall outcomes, verified trials and subscription purchases, completed learning activities, companion services, and furniture purchases. A random installation identifier measures return visits. App version, build, operating-system version, event time, and session identifier are included. Subscription events include a transaction identifier, product, currency, and price; never payment-card details.

We do not send names, email addresses, exact ages, selected apps, quiz answers, profile photos, or session recordings. IP-derived location enrichment is disabled. You can turn off Share usage analytics in Settings. Events are not used for advertising.

What stays on your device

FactGate saves the following on your phone so the app can work. Detailed progress stays on your phone; the basic usage events described below may be sent if analytics are enabled.

Friends (optional, ages 18+)

Friends is off until you choose to use it. It is not available in Kids mode or for learners under 18. To use it you sign in with Apple. FactGate does not ask Apple for your name or email address.

Friends data is stored on our backend service (Supabase). It contains: the display name you choose, an account identifier created by Sign in with Apple, your avatar look (the mascot and background color you pick), your friend requests, friendships and blocks, shared challenge progress and the days you completed learning, invite and referral records, and, if you turn on friend reminders, your device’s push notification token and your reminder preference.

Profile photo (optional): your photo stays on your device unless you turn on “Show my photo to friends”. If you do, a small copy (a downsized JPEG) is stored in private storage on our backend and shown only to your accepted friends. Blocked or removed friends can no longer see it. Turn the switch off and the copy is deleted. Deleting your account deletes it too.

Friends see only your display name, avatar look or photo, and shared challenge progress. They never see which apps you lock, your screen time, your quiz answers, or what you read. Friends can also send you short, funny nudge notifications if you allow them in Friends.

You can remove, block or report friends at any time, and you can delete your account in Friends. Deleting it permanently removes your account, profile, photo, friend links, challenges, referral records and push token from our backend.

Locking apps (Screen Time and Shortcuts)

If you turn on app locking, FactGate can use Apple’s Screen Time framework. You choose apps in Apple’s own picker. iOS gives FactGate anonymous tokens instead of app names, so FactGate cannot see which apps you picked or how you use them. Your choice stays on your device.

If you set up gating with an iOS Shortcuts automation instead, you create that automation yourself in Shortcuts. FactGate does not see what is happening in other apps.

You can turn Screen Time access off at any time in iOS Settings.

Notifications

Learning reminders are scheduled locally on your phone. If you opt in to friend reminders in Friends (ages 18+), our backend sends push notifications through Apple’s notification service using the push token described above. You can turn reminders off in FactGate’s Settings, in Friends, or in iOS Settings.

Widgets, sharing and reading aloud

The home and lock screen widgets show your streak using data stored on your device and shared only between FactGate and its widget.

When you share a result, iOS opens its share sheet with the content you chose. FactGate does not send it anywhere itself.

Reading aloud uses your phone’s built-in speech voices. Nothing is sent to a server.

Purchases

FactGate Pro is sold through the App Store. Apple handles payment and billing. FactGate only learns whether your Apple ID currently has an active subscription. It never sees your payment details. Apple’s terms and privacy policy apply to purchases.

Children

Younger learners can use FactGate. Third-party usage analytics, Friends and friend notifications are disabled for Kids mode and learners under 18.

Your choices and deleting your data

Deleting FactGate removes the data it stored on your device. If your device is backed up through iCloud or a computer, copies may remain in that backup under your own settings with Apple.

If you use Friends, tap Delete account in Friends to remove your backend data. You can also contact us to ask for deletion.

Turning off usage analytics clears unsent events and the installation identifier on your device. It does not erase events already received by the analytics provider.

Changes to this policy

If FactGate changes how it handles data, we will update this policy and the App Store privacy details before the change reaches you.
